Winter Court of Awards

You are invited to the
Winter Court of Awards
on
Tuesday, December 18
at
6:30 p.m.
in
the cafeteria at school.

Troops 2229 and 1980 will be presented with all the patches that they have earned since last year.

The girls will also perform the dance that they have choreographed in order to fulfill the dance patch requirements.

In order to fulfill a final requirement for the Brownie Quest, Troop 1980 is asking that all those in attendance bring a pet care item that will be donated to Open Door Animal Sanctuary. (If you click on the Open Door Animal Sanctuary, it will link you to a wish list on their websites.)  Their goal is to collect 100 items to donate to the Animal Shelter.

Finally, would anyone be interested in bringing a dozen cookies?  My thought is that if enough of us brought cookies or a sweet item (homemade or bought) that would save a lot of money on a snack.  Please let me know if you are willing to bring a treat.  I'll plan to take any leftovers to the fire station.

Great Amazing Race - Individual Event

Great Amazing Race for Youth

Nov. 11, 1-5 pm @ Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park, 2348 Creve Coeur Mill Rd., St. Louis 63146

Cost for team entry is $30 (adult/kid or kid/kid), one or both participants must be a student in grades 1-12

As a thank you to the Girl Scouts for their dedication to youth development, all Girl Scout families can enjoy 25% off admission to participate in the Great Amazing Race for Youth, a fun and memory-making family activity. Kids in grades 1-12 pair up with a parent, grandparent, sibling or mentor and compete in a series of fun challenges patterned after the show The Amazing Race. Whether you run, jog, walk or watch, it'll be an experience you'll never forget.

This rain or shine event pits teams of two against other teams across a one-mile cross-country course. Clue cards at each station instruct the teams to complete a task (game, relay, obstacle course, etc) before proceeding to the next challenge station. Contestants should be prepared to get a little dirty and wet - it's part of the fun!

Halloween Candy Donation

It's Trick or Treat time, and once again the girls have been provided with the opportunity to donate a portion of their Halloween candy.

We talked about this donation at our last meeting, and after several suggestions from the girls, they decided they would like to donate their candy to a Food Pantry.

Last year the girls of Troop 1980 donated 39.4 pounds of candy.

To donate a portion of their candy, the girls need to separate their candy to be donated from the candy that they would like to keep. The donated candy should be placed in a ziplock bag and brought to school on Friday, November 2. I will meet the girls in the commons area at school as they arrive in the morning to collect the candy.

The candy donation is not mandatory, but those who participate will receive a patch for their participation in the donation.

April Showers 2012

SAVE THE DATES!!!

Girl Scouts, their troop leaders, families, and friends can help families in need through participating in Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s premier community service program, April Showers!

The first weekend, April 20, 21, and 22 is devoted to the door-to-door distribution of bags.  Traditionally our troop uses the Friday after school to distribute bags.  So, WEATHER PERMITTING we will meet at Guffey at 3:45 p.m. on April 20 to get our neighborhood assignments.  I need as many adults as possible to help deliver the girls to the neighborhoods so that they can distribute bags.

On the second Saturday, April 28 (rain or shine), girls return and collect bags filled with personal care items. Girls should only collect from residences where bags are left outside. Again, I need as many adults as possible to get the girls back into the neighborhoods to collect the bags.  We will then deliver the collected items to the Saline Valley Fire Station.  The morning is typically done by noon at the latest.
